Unlike most styles of yoga, restorative yoga does not typically involve stretching or strengthening the physical body.  Rather, the focus of restorative yoga is to relieve pain or injury through relaxation.  The use of props (bolsters, blankets, blocks, and pillows) assists the body to relax completely.

In today’s fast-paced world, most people constantly live in “fight or flight” mode.  This puts a lot of strain on our bodies which can lead to anxiety, high blood pressure, cancer, and many other stress related illnesses. Restorative yoga activates the parasympathetic nervous system for better rest and relaxation.  Postures can help heal specific ailments and improve overall health.
